Exfoliate for Smoother Softer Skin
Treat your skin to the body-buffing benefits of exfoliators and you’ll be smoother and glowing all over
Exfoliation is a body-buffing treatment that sloughs away dry, dull skin cells that your body naturally sheds to the surface layer of your skin - also known as the epidermis - exposing the newer, healthier-looking skin cells hidden beneath. After exfoliating, you’ll feel lighter and brighter, fresher all over. Plus you’ll notice how eagerly your skin soaks up your favorite moisturizer, drinking in the hydration a good lotion or cream provides.
What do I use to exfoliate?
The most effective exfoliators generally fall into two areas - accessories and body scrubs and scrub soaps.
Accessories
Stimulate circulation and get gentle exfoliating everyday with a natural fiber bath glove, brush, or mitt - or a finely woven synthetic body polishing towel or net sponge. Just apply your favorite soap or shower gel for a light all-over buff while you cleanse. For more intense work on areas prone to roughness and callouses, choose a coarser textured sisal mitt, nail brush, pumice stone, or smoothing stick specifically designed for foot or hand care.
Specialty Scrubs & Soaps
Composed of fine scrubbing grains that gently buff away dead skin cells, the cleansing grains in scrubs or soaps for body or face range in composition from finely ground pumice to walnut shells to salt. You can apply them directly to the skin with your hands, or use on a gentle exfoliating accessory for an all-over buff job.
When should I exfoliate?
To keep skin in tip-top shape, exfoliate after cleansing once a week for normal-to-dry skin, twice a week for oily skin.
NOTE- Too much of even a good thing can be harmful. Don’t overdo it on the scrubbing or you can become more prone to dryness, sunburn, or other skin problems.
