<span style=font-size:10px;color:#996633;">
from Karen, the Founder & President of eBubbles.com

Exactly ten years ago I had the privilege of visiting Ireland and discovered the Fragrances of Ireland perfumery. They had just launched the new Inis Energy of the Sea perfume in 1998 - which happened to be the United Nations Year of the Oceans.

As I was in Ireland researching products for the soon-to-launch eBubbles.com, I called them and they agreed to let me stop by for a chat. When I pulled up the gravel drive in my little Euro-style rental car after a crazy drive from Dublin – narrow roads, tiny cars, sparse road signs and my lack of map-reading skills had combined for more than a tad of stress!! – I was instantly soothed by the sight of their ‘office building’.

A wooden cottage-style structure, it was nestled amongst green, green trees, falling away to fields of lavender with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background. Ahhhh….. a bit of Irish heaven. I thought, no wonder they call this area the ‘Garden of Ireland’.

Ten years and tons of happy customers later, I am proud to say that eBubbles.com was one of the first shops in the USA to offer Inis Energy of the Sea.

I absolutely love this boutique perfumery and am grateful to them. As a brand new start up online company nearly a decade ago, they took a chance on us and have helped us thrive.

They are an independent perfume house, which is rare these days. Most perfumes start life in a boardroom, but theirs start in all sorts of wonderful places – like their own organic lavender fields, or a magical Connemara coastal place called Dog’s Bay. Their best-selling sensation, Inis Energy of the Sea, came to life on a sunny beach on the West Coast of Ireland.

We say in the marketing copy that Inis ‘perfectly captures the coolness, clarity and purity of the sea’, and I honestly believe it does. I have had the pleasure of standing on a beach on the western coast of Ireland – to see the azure blue sky and the breathtaking transparency and clarity of the water, and to feel the wildness and excitement of such a sparkling, tremendous sea.

And I do wear Inis. In truth, I’m not much of a perfume gal. I love smelling all sorts of perfumes, but I rarely wear them. When I do, I wear Inis. It instantly makes me feel the energy and happiness of a summer’s day by the sea – like I’ve got the sun on my face, the wind in my hair and the sand between my toes.

I love this fragrance because it helps bring me back to the wonders of the ocean, and it simply makes me feel happier. Every time I wear Inis, I think of this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air….”

Yes indeed.

Thank you for your continued support of eBubbles.com
and warmest wishes to you,

Karen Wilkinson

PS - please don’t hesitate to contact me directly with any questions, concerns or comments. I’d love to hear from you!

The seas and oceans of our planet provide a wealth of riches to our everyday existence. From the life-giving rain that nourishes crops, to life-saving medicines; from the fish that come from the ocean floor to feed us, to the goods that are transported on the sea’s surface - the ocean plays a role in our life in some way every day. And of course, it is home to millions of creatures who’s very lives depend on it’s health.

Fragrances of Ireland is committed to the protection of the seas and its inhabitants. By donating 10% of all Inis Energy of the Sea sales to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, they help protect the environment and promote awareness.

Inis’ is Irish for island,
but no one is an island:
we are all connected,
by seas, by oceans, by dreams,
through keeping the channels clear

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) is a relatively small organization dedicated to the conservation and better understanding of whales, dolphins and porpoise in Irish waters.Core funding therefore requires a “leap of faith” by the funder as they don’t necessarily get their corporate logo on a high profile piece of equipment, nor are they linked to an important piece of research that makes some earth shattering new finding.

Parallel to Inis’ Core funding support has been their tireless support for “Whale Watch Ireland”, which Inis have sponsored each year since 2004. This All-Ireland event is one of the largest events on the Irish wildlife calendar, which each year sees huge numbers of whale and dolphin enthusiasts join IWDG on headlands and cliff tops for guided land-based whale watches thoughout the four provences.

This event is free and open to all, and is more than just a data gathering exercise, as it informs and inspires people to become actively involved in local biological. The conservation dividend from this event is immeasurable.

Used throughout the ages to maintain skin and muscle suppleness, heal abrasions, and soothe the burning and drying effects of sun and water, olive oil also cleanses and deeply moisturizes the skin. And extracts from olive tree leaves stimulate and help heal minor cuts and burns. Full of skin regenerative properties of vitamins A and E, beta carotene, and moisturizing squalene, olive oil based products are an excellent choice for healthy skin care.

Coconut oil is one of the safest, most effective natural moisturizers on earth. It’s full of proteins and vitamins to nourish and protect your skin and hair. And it’s great for the entire family. Used for centuries by people of the South Pacific, Asia and other tropical regions, coconut oil is a vital source of food and is used extensively for health and body care.

Full of good-for-you nutrients, healthy healing coconut oil can be enjoyed in soaps, exfoliating scrubs, bath soaks, lotions, body butters and more. Its small molecular structure allows for easy absorption, and it gives the skin a soft, smooth texture. Absolutely an excellent choice for the relief of dry, rough and sun damaged skin.

What are the benefits of Coconut Oil?

Entirely natural oil that hydrates, nourishes, and protects.

Restores a healthy glow to skin and hair.

Absorbs quickly and deeply into the skin with no greasy after-feel.

Extracted from fresh coconuts and free of chemicals or additives.

Naturally occurring proteins, vitamins and protective antioxidants.

Ideal for all skin types

Pure Virgin Coconut Oil

For thousands of years, the fruit of the coconut tree and it’s life- giving oil and milk have bestowed health and radiance to the skin and hair of the South Pacific Islanders. Exposed to the blistering sun, wind and weather conditions they are still famed for their beautiful hair and skin. If it protects and beautifies in harsh conditions, imagine what it will do for your skin in your environment.

Many skin care products today use highly refined vegetable oils devoid of all natural protective antioxidants (vitamins A, C, E & beta-carotene). These oxidized vegetable oils lead to destructive free-radicals (renegade molecules that cause damage to cells &tissues). Once a free-radical reaction is started it can cause a chain reaction that produces more free radicals, which ultimately damages thousands of molecules. The only way our body has to fight them is with antioxidants. When a free radical comes into contact with an antioxidant, the chain reaction is stopped. For this reason, it is good to have plenty of antioxidants in our cells and tissues to protect us. The number of antioxidants we have in our tissues is determined to a large extent by the nutrients in our diet. Having anti-oxidants in skin care products is important, too.

Virgin Coconut Oil is useful in fighting free-radicals, as it is unrefined, free of impurities and hasn’t been stripped of its natural antioxidant components - vitamins A, C, E, and beta- caratene.

Why is Virgin Coconut Oil so much better than other oils and lotions?

Many skin care products use highly refined vegetable oils that lake the natural protective antioxidants found in coconut oil. “these oxidized oils lead to destructive free-radicals - renegade molecules that cause damage (including wrinkles) to cells and tissues.

Once a free-radical reaction is started, it can cause a chain reaction which produces more free-radicals, which ultimately damages thousands of molecules. The only way our body has to fight them is with antioxidants. When a free-radical comes into contact with and antioxidant, the chain reaction is stopped. For this reason, it is good to have plenty of antioxidants in our cells and tissues to protect the health of our skin and entire body. Virgin Coconut Oil is full of natural, healthy, good-for-the-body antioxidants!

Made with the purest oil, Coconut Spa brings you the centuries-old health and beauty secret of the South Pacific for every day body care.

3-Step Daily Body Care for Healthy Glowing Skin

Step 1 - Cleanse
The gentle and creamy lathering soap treats your skin to a moisturizing cleanse that respects your skin’s natural pH levels. Made only of saponified organic virgin coconut oil, it’s completely natural and excellent for all skin types. Use daily for skin that feels clean, invigorated, and refreshed.

Step 2 - Exfoliate
This incredibly effective body treatment gently buffs away aging skin cells, unclogs pores, and restores your skin to a healthy glow. A lush tropical treat, our fine organic virgin oil is blended with pure cane sugar crystals from Hawaii. The alpha hydroxy agents in the sugar, combined with the deeply moisturizing oil, leaves your skin soft and smooth.

Step 3 - Moisturize
Pure virgin coconut oil is one of the most effective natural moisturizers on earth to repair and protect your skin. Deeply hydrating and healthy, use it as an every-day moisturizer all over your body by applying to towel dried skin after bath or shower. It quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving it soft and glowing without a greasy after-feel, and without destructive free-radicals or renegade molecules that cause damage to cells and tissues.

Why is Virgin Coconut Oil so much better than other oils and lotions?

Many skin care products use highly refined vegetable oils that lack the natural protective antioxidants found in coconut oil. These oxidized oils lead to destructive free-radicals - renegade molecules that cause damage (including wrinkles) to cells and tissues.

Once a free-radical reaction is started, it can cause a chain reaction which produces more free-radicals which ultimately damages thousands of molecules. The only way our body has to fight them is with antioxidants. When a free-radical comes into contact with an antioxidant, the chain reaction is stopped. For this reason, it is good to have plenty of antioxidants in our cells and tissues to protect the health of our skin and entire body. Virgin Coconut Oil is full of natural, healthy, good-for-the-body antioxidants!

Choose from two styles: Natural, with no chemicals, additives or artificial fragrance, just the scent of pure coconut; or Lemon Lime for the refreshing scent and antiseptic properties of these added pure essential oils.

This easy-to-do at home treatment sloughs, buffs and moisturizes rough and tired feet in less than ten minutes! Featuring the botanical-based blends from Get Fresh, the lemongrass scented products revive your senses while your soles are soothed. For feet in real need, do the treatment twice a week. If your feet are already in pretty good shape, once a week is just fine for keeping your feet in tip-top shape.

STEP 1
Apply Get Fresh Totally Soaked Softening Foot Gel over feet and leave on for 3-5 minutes. Free of parabens and harsh chemicals (like those found at nail salons!), this concentrated gel softens soles and dissolves dead skin with nature’s best softeners, preparing your feet for a good exfoliating scrub.
STEP 2
Without rinsing, apply Get Down n’ Dirty Lemongrass Foot Scrub then treat yourself to a foot massage for 1-2 minutes. Loaded with nitty gritty polishing pumice and ground walnut shells to remove dead skin, it also deodorizes with lemongrass essential oil. For super rough spots and callouses, try using a pumice stone. Then rinse feet, pat dry with a soft towel, and notice how your feet feel revived and refreshed already!

STEP 3
Gently massage in Get Fresh Rescue Me Lemongrass Foot Creme and feel how smooth and silky your feet feel now. This rich repairing cream is loaded with shea butter and aloe vera, plus skin-renewing alpha hydroxy fruit acids. With refreshing and naturally antiseptic lemongrass, it is absolutely our most popular foot care product!

Bonus Step if Needed
For an intense softening treatment of rough soles, apply the Rescue Me Creme to your feet before bedtime, then cover with socks for the night and wake up with smoother soles. Just use any old cotton socks you have hanging around your sock drawer, or pick up a pair of Spa Sister White Cotton Overnight Moisturizing Socks.

Want to give it a try? Your best bet is the Get Fresh Relief For Tattered Tootsies Kit. This starter set in a groovy zip-top case comes with all three products AND a pumice stone!

Chances are you’ve seen these bath puffs around the drugstores or beauty supplies, right? At first glance, they may seem superfluous or simply decorative, but in fact, they’re one of the best money-saving bath accessories around.

The secret is, the nylon mesh spider-webby design creates a luscious, sudsy lather out of just a little bit of soap or shower gel. So this seemingly unessential accessory can actually makes your soaps and shower gels last much longer. Depending on your bath or shower habits, you could see your favorite soap or shower gel last you at least up to two times longer!

The idea that ‘a little goes a long way’ definitely applies here. That said, you’ll need to find your own personal ‘lather’ threshold when you try out your new pouf.

How to Use the Money-Saving Pouf Mesh Sponge

Simply dampen the sponge under running water, then glide your soap just a few time across one side, then the other. If you’re using a shower gel or body wash, try squeezing out just a tiny bit on each side.

Then start rubbing and lightly scrubbing any part of your body to start the sudsing. You’ll need motion on your skin to get the lather going, so rub away for a few seconds, and watch how the lather grows the more your rub. I usually start my ‘sudsy scrub’ on my shoulders and collarbone to get that lather going. No particular reason I start there…just habit I guess.

Besides the budget-conscious bonus of using a Pouf Mesh Sponge, using it daily helps keep skin healthier with its gentle exfoliating action. And the soft and sanitary nylon netting air dries quickly after your bath or shower, with the nylon less likely to collect bacteria than natural sea sponges.

Be sun smart and enjoy more of the great outdoors.

Too much of a good thing can be bad for us, and this is definitely true when it comes to spending time in the sun. We all need some sun. Our bodies need sunlight to make vitamin D, and spending time outdoors is one of the healthiest, best therapies around.

As we all know by now, prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays can be harmful and even life threatening if done to excess. Without the use of sun sense and sunscreen it has a cumulative effect over the years and can lead to premature aging of the skin and a risk of skin cancer.

With a little common sense and some good quality sun care products, you can avoid the negative effects of the sun.

Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun
The power of the sun is most intense between the hours of 10 AM and 3 PM, so try to plan outdoor activites around these hours, or make sure you’re covered with hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. And don’t be fooled by cloudy skies! Ultraviolet rays, the ones that do damage, go right through clouds, so you can get sunburned even on overcast days. And water, snow and sand are reflective, bouncing UV rays up to burn you on your nose, as well as on top of it.

Use a good sunscreen product
The FDA requires the labels of all sunscreen and sunblock products to state the product’s sun protection factor, or “SPF”, from 2 on up. The higher the number, the longer a person can stay in the sun before burning. Use products with an SPF of at least 15, and apply liberally on all exposed skin, (including lips, nose, ears, neck, scalp (if hair is thinning), hands and feet ) before going outside. And remember to reapply after swimming or excessive sweating.

NOTE - Sunscreens should not be used on babies younger than 6 months. Instead, use hats, clothing and shading to protect small babies from the sun. If you think your baby may need a sunscreen, check with your pediatrician. For children 6 months to 2 years, use specially formulated chemical-free sunscreens with an SPF of at least 15.

Wear a hat
Your best bet is a hat with at least a 3-inch brim all around, as it will shade the areas most likely to burn. - your face, neck, ears, eyes, and scalp.

Wear sunglasses
A quality pair of sunglasses can help protect your eyes from sun damage. Cheap, poor quality sun glasses can actually do more damage than good, so spend a little extra and take care of your eyes!

Be aware of photosensitivity
Ask your doctor about the photosensitivty risk of any medicines you may be taking. Some drug chemicals can produce potentially damaging effects when combined with sunlight.

Exfoliation is a body-buffing treatment that sloughs away dry, dull skin cells that your body naturally sheds to the surface layer of your skin - also known as the epidermis - exposing the newer, healthier-looking skin cells hidden beneath. After exfoliating, you’ll feel lighter and brighter, fresher all over. Plus you’ll notice how eagerly your skin soaks up your favorite moisturizer, drinking in the hydration a good lotion or cream provides.

What do I use to exfoliate?
The most effective exfoliators generally fall into two areas - accessories and body scrubs and scrub soaps.

Accessories
Stimulate circulation and get gentle exfoliating everyday with a natural fiber bath glove, brush, or mitt - or a finely woven synthetic body polishing towel or net sponge. Just apply your favorite soap or shower gel for a light all-over buff while you cleanse. For more intense work on areas prone to roughness and callouses, choose a coarser textured sisal mitt, nail brush, pumice stone, or smoothing stick specifically designed for foot or hand care.

Specialty Scrubs & Soaps
Composed of fine scrubbing grains that gently buff away dead skin cells, the cleansing grains in scrubs or soaps for body or face range in composition from finely ground pumice to walnut shells to salt. You can apply them directly to the skin with your hands, or use on a gentle exfoliating accessory for an all-over buff job.

When should I exfoliate?
To keep skin in tip-top shape, exfoliate after cleansing once a week for normal-to-dry skin, twice a week for oily skin.

NOTE- Too much of even a good thing can be harmful. Don’t overdo it on the scrubbing or you can become more prone to dryness, sunburn, or other skin problems.

Aromatherapy is the art and science of using essentials oils - which are the aromatic extracts of plants and flowers - to positively influence mind, body and spirit.

What exactly is Aromatherapy?
It is the art and science of using essentials oils - which are the aromatic extracts of plants and flowers - to positively influence mind, body and spirit.

The highly concentrated oil extracts from flowers, leaves, seeds, resins and roots of plants are considered the ‘life force’ of plants - the part with the power to heal and sooth the mind, body and spirit.

Believed to have its roots in Egypt, aromatherapy has been in use for more than 6000 years. And researchers have now scientifically verified what the ancient Egyptians and Greeks already knew - - that one of the fastest ways to influence mood is through our sense of smell.

Essential Oils - Worth every scent.

It takes a lot of extracting to produce a small amount of essential oil - - as many as sixty thousand petals to produce one ounce of rose oil, for example! Some essential oils involve complicated modes of extracting, with large volumes of plants producing small quantities of essential oil - like the rose - therefore they can be quite expensive.

Often more than one essential oil can be extracted from the same plant. From the bitter orange tree for example, we get “neroli” from the blossoms; “petitgrain” from the leaves; and “orange” from the peel of the orange fruit.

Essentials oils can be used to beautify the skin and body when used in your bath water, massage oil, soap and body lotion. Most are too concentrated to be applied directly to the skin, and should be mixed with another medium such as olive, grapeseed, jojoba or castor oil. Better yet…leave the delicate mixing and balancing work to the experts who have created the brands you’ll find here at eBubbles.

Essential oils work their magic through inhalation as well - in diffusers, in atomizer sprays or in scented candles. And believe it or not, you may sometimes be enjoying their healing benefits without even realizing it… for example, the aroma of fresh basil in a salad.

How do you want to feel today?

It’s up to you… with a little aromatherapy know-how! Here’s what you can expect from some of the most popular and effective essential oils:

BASIL -Calming, balancing, restorative
Use in times of stress, anxiety and tension.
As an herbal medicine, basil can also be an aid to digestion…so throw some in your salad!

References to soap have been found in Sumerian clay tablets dating back as far as 2500 BC, and it is believed that the Babylonians were making soap as early as 2800 BC. At the ruins in Pompeii, archeologists uncovered a complete soap-making factory, with whole finished bars of soap still intact.

The earliest soap recipes were crude mixtures of animal fat, wood ashes and water (a blend known as potash) boiled in a cauldron over an open fire. The resulting soft soap mixture was used for the cleaning of clothes and the body.

The ‘Stinky’ Middle Ages
The practice of bathing declined during the Middle Ages, as it was thought that bathing was dangerous and unsanitary (yikes!) Soap was still produced during this era, but it was used primarily for washing clothes, and it became a highly secretive trade, with regional recipes jealously guarded by the craftsmen. The production of soap began to differ from region to region. For example, the Mediterranean countries used a pure vegetable oil base (usually olive oil) while the Northern European countries produced soaps with a base of animal fat.

Baths are Back in Style (thank goodness)
The 18th century saw a marked rise in the popularity of bathing, and as a result of basic supply and demand, gave way to an increase in the production of soap and new ways of making it. It was discovered that adding salt to the soap mixture would produce the hard bars we now take for granted. But soap production during this time was still very much a process of trial and error, luck, and superstition, and it wasn’t until the early 1900s that soap-making was transformed into a more scientific and sanitary process. But surprisingly enough, most modern soap makers of today still use basically the same production methods that were used at the turn of the last century.

Soap Making Today
Soaps today are made mainly with a pure vegetable oil base, plus sodium, natural emollients, water, and essential or fragrant oils. The chemical reaction formed when these ingredients are combined is called ’saponification’. Tallow (or animal fat) is rarely used any longer and is found mostly in less expensive, low-lathering soaps. Most high-end soaps are made exclusively with vegetable oils.

The milling process involves a process of grinding and compressing the soap mixture through metal rollers, which removes water and makes the soap more dense and long-lasting. Finer soap is milled at least twice, and some soaps are milled up to five or six times. Triple-or-more milled soaps can last a surprisingly long time, especially if proper care is given to the soap.

The most popular skin-softening emollients found in natural soaps today include olive or coconut oil, shea butter or glycerin. A by-product of the soap making process, glycerin is a natural humectant that actually attracts moisture to the skin, making glycerin-based soaps some of the most moisturizing available.

The Care and Handling of Soap
Because it’s designed to dissolve in water, soap is best kept high and dry when not in use. Use a soap dish that provides drainage, or allows the soap to sit above the water that drips off of it.
